Creative Arts Hub, Norwich

A new three storey Creative Arts Building at the City College, Norwich, inspired by Norfolk barn style design provides a state of the art venue that City College Norwich and the community can be proud of with loft-like interiors which give a great sense of openness and create the atmosphere of a professional gallery arrangement.
An innovative design which seeks to showcase the Creative Arts & Theatre, achieving BREAAM excellent. In 2013 the project won an AJ Excellence Award, Civic Trust national Award and was shortlisted for BCIA 2014 and RIBA Award regional award. This building has a multifunctional programme for art and drama based activity. Its strong and pure architectural frame means that it can absorb its transient and messy activities well. A black timber clad pavilion set on the edge of a tree lined south facing garden forms a green veil backdrop. The north facing wall is quite open in order to soak up glare free north light into the gallery spaces.
