A feasibility study for a Community Centre in a small Romanian town.
The stakeholders are: the local church, hospital, local schools as well as the general public.
The brief was led by the local church, leading to a study into local religious architecture. The Community Centre concept was defined by the vernacular typology of the cloister courtyard with ample eaves.
The low budget, local seismic conditions and a sustainable agenda led to a one storey timber structure solution. We also questioned the ethics of cross laminated timber production in Romania.
